Internship

IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR INTERSHIP POSITION

Come to ride and learn with two Grand Prix trainers and observe all levels of training, up close!  Paul Belasik is known as a “trainer’s trainer” and is internationally respected for his many books on dressage and his decades of classical riding and coaching all over the US and beyond.  USDF Diamond Achievement rider and author Rose Caslar Belasik is a talented teacher who brings her knowledge of pilates, yoga and sports psychology to her riding and coaching. We are a small, elite training barn where we share not just the “how” of riding your horse but the “why.” We bring theory and history into our daily work, which will help make you an outstanding future rider and instructor.

Are you ready to break through some of the glass ceilings on your skill levels and understanding of dressage? We guarantee improvement in your position and your horse’s training. You will have access to our extensive library of books and videos, including some rare footage of classical masters. There is ample time for questions and discussion during the day and a variety of breeds and types of horses to observe.

The compensation for your detail-oriented, cheerful work, is a generous package: your own spacious apartment with washer dryer, AC and WIFI, all utilities included. You will ride with daily coaching, have a weekly private lesson with Paul and receive a monthly stipend. Bringing your own horse is preferred, but it may be possible to make arrangements if you do not have access to a horse.

We work hard, but we do it in an atmosphere of teamwork and positivity. The position entails typical barn chores and horse care from 7-6 each day with a half hour lunch break. Night check 3 days per week. 1.5 days off per week, some flexibility required during show season.

No pets, no smoking. Must be 18 years old. Full year position – inquire about flexibility.

For the right candidate, opportunity for growth into assistant trainer/barn manager position.

We are looking for that serious equestrian student who is a self-starter, can work independently and loves to take care of horses.  Our previous interns have gone on to be FEI riders, trainers and assistant trainers, barn managers, and professional grooms! One of the benefits of working for us is the continued mentorship we offer our interns. We keep in touch with many of our former interns, offering professional support and connections whenever possible.

As Alois Podhajsky said, “there must be a balance between theory and riding. Without this balance, riders go from one system to another with no understanding of biomechanics or history. They just ride each day, making mistakes that have already been proven to be ineffective.”
